As the name suggests, this is my "Hideaway".. I've locked my old xanga blog and started afresh with this blog.. It's my way of leaving the past behind, and move on to a much brighter future.. In these few years, I've grown so much, both physically (or horizontally?) and mentally.. I am thankful for all the things that have happened to me so far.. Fate works in strange ways I guess.. I have gained an unlikely ally and probably a friend after a 3-year trip.. I have lost a few, and made some enemies.. I've survived this, and I have yet to survive another 4 years in university..
For years, I have suppressed most of my feelings.. I fear that I'll be judged, frowned upon, by others who seem to live in their perfect little worlds.. I was once a resentful child, who blamed both of my parents who didn't have a plan mapped out for me.. I have grown to forgive them, to accept that at least they gave life to me, if not it would not be possible for me to be here.. I wish that my sister can forgive them as well..
But some things remain etched in your memory forever.. It's funny how the mind works.. It's so easy to remember all the bad things; the betrayals, and the lies.. It's hard to forgive, and it's even harder to forget.. It's kinda sad how fragile trust is.. It takes years to build, and just mere seconds to break.. It has been close to 1 year.....
Slogging my ass off for 3 years has finally paid off.. Today, I can proudly announce that I won the Senoko Power Project Prize.. I was offered the course of my first choice by NUS and NTU.. I was awarded the ASEAN scholarship and I accepted the offer from NTU.. NUS was my dream, but as the years gone by, I grew disillusioned.. NUS wasn't suitable for me, or I would say, I wasn't suitable for NUS.. And the scholarship was the perfect excuse for me to accept NTU's offer as I am well aware of my own predicament.. My savings had run out, all spent throughout the 3 years.. I had no one to turn to, and without the scholarship, my only option was to take a loan from the bank.. The other option, that I wish I would never have to choose, is to look for a job and postpone furthering my studies..
Now I'm back, it feels like nothing has changed; except that the streets feel so empty, devoid of the people I am so familiar with.. It's true that your true friends are mostly from your primary and secondary school period.. After that, people see each other as competitors and feel threatened by each other..
Enough of my ramblings..Time to tuck in!
